10 Jun HSE Advice End May 2021
The latest guidance from the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) is that employers should continue to give employees access to safety critical medicals, provided sufficient Covid 19 risk assessments have been carried out to ensure the safety of employees and the medical staff involved. The HSE continues to balance the need to protect the welfare of employees and practitioners during the current pandemic.
At Harlow Occupational Health Service, we are continuing to offer medicals following the guidance given. If, however, the client prefers, we are also still offering phone consultations as an alternative following the guidance from the HSE.
During what have been very difficult times for many people, it is not surprising that mental health has suffered. Many people have found that isolation from friends and family has had a huge impact on their wellbeing, even working from home with little or no contact with colleagues and workmates has been difficult for some people.
Whilst we await the next announcement concerning the next stage in the ‘Road Map’, and with many people returning to work after prolonged periods of absence from the workplace, employers need now more than ever, to consider the mental health of their employees as well as the physical aspects of health and safety.
